Why Trust God Again?
They lied.
They cheated.
They betrayed you.
They promised forever
and then walked away—
leaving the pieces of your broken heart scattered across the floor.
And you were left asking:
“How could someone I trusted
do this to me?”
But then another question comes: Did God leave?
When they walked away,
did He?
When they broke their promise, did He break His?
When they betrayed your trust, did He betray you?
No.
For God has said,
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” — Hebrews 13:5
Never.
Not when you're strong.
Not when you're weak.
Not when you understand.
Not when you don't.
Never.
“God is not a man, that he should lie…”
— Numbers 23:19
People lie.
People change.
People make promises
they cannot—or will not—keep.
But God is not a man.
His Word is truth.
His promises are sure.
His character does not change.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
So when you're beaten,
battered,
bruised…
When you're angry,
frustrated,
confused…
When you're desperate,
depressed,
exhausted…
When the pain in your body
is more than you think you can bear…
When the thoughts in your mind
are too shameful to speak aloud…
He is there.
When you ask,
“Where is God?”
He says,
“I will never leave thee.”
When you cry,
“Does God see me?”
His Word says,
“The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” — Psalm 34:15
When you whisper,
“Does He know how much this hurts?” He says,
“Casting all your care upon him;
for he careth for you.”
— 1 Peter 5:7
And when you cannot find the strength to hold onto Him—
He is still holding onto you.
Giving up.
Throwing up.
Strapping up.
Waiting for them to show back up.
Waiting for an apology.
Waiting for an explanation.
Waiting for the person who wounded you to somehow become the person
who heals you.
But listen:
Your healing was never meant
to depend on the one who hurt you.
Your hope is in Christ.
Your help is in Christ.
Your refuge is in Christ.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart…” — Psalm 34:18
You may not understand
why God allowed it.
You may not understand
why He didn't stop it.
You may not understand
why the prayer you prayed
didn't receive the answer you wanted.
But don't confuse
God's silence with God's absence.
The cross proves
that He has not abandoned you.
Jesus didn't love you
from a distance.
He entered our suffering.
He was rejected.
Betrayed.
Mocked.
Beaten.
Wounded.
He knows what it is
to be forsaken.
And at Calvary,
He stretched out His hands
and gave everything for you.
So when the enemy whispers,
“God has left you.”
Remember the cross.
When your heart says,
“You cannot trust Him.”
Remember the empty tomb.
When your circumstances say,
“There is no hope.”
Remember His promise:
“Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning.”
— Psalm 30:5
They left.
He stayed.
They lied.
He remains Truth.
They broke their promises.
His Word stands forever.
They abandoned you.
He called you His own.
And even when you cannot feel Him,
even when you cannot see Him,
even when you cannot understand Him—
He is still God.
Still faithful.
Still present.
Still merciful.
Still good.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life… nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38–39
So why trust God again?
Not because people didn't hurt you.
They did.
Not because the pain wasn't real.
It was.
Not because you understand everything God is doing.
You don't.
Trust Him because He is God.
Trust Him because He cannot lie.
Trust Him because He keeps His promises.
Trust Him because Christ died for you.
Trust Him because the grave could not hold Him.
Trust Him because He has never left. And He never will.
“I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” So breathe.
Cry if you need to.
Grieve what was lost.
But don't let someone else's betrayal teach you to doubt God's faithfulness.
They left.
HE never did.
They changed.
HE never will.
They broke your heart.
HE can heal it.
And when you have nothing left to hold onto—
hold onto HIM.
Because He is still holding onto you.
Trust HIM.
Trust Jesus.
Trust His Word.
Trust His promises.
Trust the One who stayed.
